Why Jesus?

Why Not My Innerself,

Or Getting Right With My Center?

Why do we need Jesus?

Whether we are willing to admit it or not there's a yearning deep inside each of us.  A yearning that can’t be filled except with God.

No matter what we accomplish or do we can never be completely happy unless that void is filled with a personal and loving relationship with God.

Wealthy or successful people often talk about feeling lonely or empty even when in a room full of people, as if a deep chunk is missing in their life.

In our life, at one time or another,  we have all tried to fill that emptiness. Aristotle Onassis, one of the richest men in the world said, "Millions do not always add up to what a man needs out of life."

We try money, drugs, sex, alcohol, career, music, sports, hard work, power, and many other things.  They offer instant gratification, but we are still left with a hollow feeling.

Why Jesus?

Robbie L. Rogers

Even the closest relationship we can find will not always satisfy that deep emptiness inside. Scripture tells us the reason for that is that we have turned our backs on God.

Jesus said, "I am the bread of life." John 6:35  He is the only one who can satisfy that yearning.  He is the only way we can regain that closeness to God we unconsciously desire. Without Him it is impossible to please or be restored to God. Through Jesus, and with a personal relationship with Him, we are saved.

The great author and philosopher Albert Camus once said, "Man cannot live without meaning."  Sooner or later we all ask, "What is the meaning of life?" "What am I doing here?" "Is there any purpose in life?" Until we find that true relationship with God through Jesus we will never find answers to such questions or for that matter find true meaning for much of anything. "Things" will always provide a passing fancy, but that false satisfaction will not last. Only a true relationship with our creator will suffice.

As a young person, we usually do not think much about death, it seems to long away. yet, in doing so we fail to face reality. The fact is we begin the dying process the moment we are born.

However, according to Ecclesiastes 3:11, "He has also set eternity in the hearts of men.

Let’s face it most people don’t want to die. We want to survive beyond death. We are like the man who said his goal was to live eternally. Then he said, "So far so good."

Whether we are able to admit it or not, we all will live eternally. But, where will you live it?

Only in Jesus will we find eternal life.  That life starts when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. If we do not we will survive, but in an eternal death of flames.

We must also admit, if honest, we do many things which we know are wrong. Sometimes we are deeply ashamed, or at least we should be. We often operate like a baby, self centered and self indulgent, seeking out pleasure to spoil ourselves. Jesus said, "What comes out of a man is what makes him `unclean.’  For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man `unclean.’" Mark 7:20-23

Our greatest need is forgiveness, to be absolved. As a man with cancer needs a doctor, we inherently need forgiveness. In Him we find such forgiveness. His death on the cross paid for our sins, so we could go back to a right relationship with God.

So why not Jesus?

Simply give Him a try.

You have nothing to loose, and everything to gain.

He will not disappoint you, for He Loves you and said, "would that all would be saved."
